3 grenades found in Boko

By Staff reporter

GUWAHATI, March 31 - The army today recovered three live grenades from a grocery shop in Boko.

Following a tip-off, an army team along with an Assam Police representative launched a search at the shop. During the course of the search, a lady entered the shop and lobbed a grenade at the army team, which, however, did not explode as the detonator assembly of grenade had got disintegrated.

On further search of the premises, two more sophisticated UBGL-type grenades were recovered. The owner of the shop along with the lady has been handed over to Boko police for further interrogation.

It is suspected that this episode may be a part of a larger explosive supply network, a defence spokesman said here.

The area has been cordoned off and the army bomb disposal team is in the process of defusing the grenades.
