DULIAJAN, April 8 - A 40-year-old person along with two minors died in a mournful incident when they fell into a ditch at Laalpagurighat of Namrup on Wednesday.
The tragic incident happened when two minors � Ajo Kullu (8) and Hariram Sarma (9) � accidentally fell into a ditch of almost 30-foot depth at the Laalpagurighat cremation ground of Namrup. In an attempt to rescue the minors, Ganesh Sarma (40) and Pramod Gogoi (35) jumped into the ditch.
However, Ganesh Sarma along with the two minor died on the spot, while Pramod was rescued by the Fire Service team of the Brahmaputra Valley Fertiliser Corporation Limited.
Later Naharkatia Circle Officer Bikram Chetry and Namrup DSP Kulpradip Bhattacharya visited the accident spot. The body of the deceased were sent to Assam Medical College and Hospital for post-mortem.
