3-day tribal fest Arunodoi from today

GUWAHATI, Dec 7 - A three-day tribal festival Arunodoi will be celebrated from December 8 to 10. The festival will begin with sapling plantation by Prafulla Kumar Hazoary, Commissioner and Secretary of WPT & BC Department on the premises of the Assam Institute of Research for Tribals and Scheduled Castes (AIRT & SC), Khanapara.

The festival is being organised by the AIRT & SC under the aegis of the Ministry of Tribal Affairs and the Department of WPT & BC, Government of Assam.

Traditional dances, songs, drama and sports of various ethnic groups of the State are some of the highlights of the festival which will be showcased at Shilpgram on December 9 and 10.

The cultural show which is the core of the festival, will be inaugurated at 3 p.m. on December 9 by the chief guest, Minister of Welfare of Plains Tribes and Backward Classes Pramila Rani Brahma.

Additional Chief Secretary Rajiv Kumar Bora will be the guest of honour at the function.
