3-day Lakshmi Puja at Moiramara from Oct 7

BARPETA, Sept 27 � The 23rd Lakshmi Puja will be celebrated at Moiramara in Barpeta district with a three-day long programme from October 7 to 9 next. This was informed by Mrinaljyoti Das, secretary of 23rd Sri Sri Lakshmi Puja Celebration Committee Moiramara.

The programme will start with the lighting of lamps at 7 pm on October 7 followed by erection of the idol of the Goddess at 7.30 pm. An exhibition of fireworks will be performed at 8 pm which will be inaugurated by Satish Das, president of the celebration committee. Women folk will perform naam prasanga at night.

On the second day, after the morning prayer Bhagawat will be recited from 9 am. Competition on sports will start at 10 am followed by painting competition at 11 am. Competition on Go As You Like is scheduled at 3pm which will be followed by recitation of poems and extempore speech.

Late Diganya Das memorial programme will be held at 7 pm on that day which will be inaugurated by Landarpa Das. It will showcase a variety of local culture including the Sattriya dance. Late Babul Chandra Das memorial dance competition will be inaugurated by Ananta Chandra Das.

A plantation programme is scheduled at 9 am on October 9 which will be followed by competition on sports. Late Gheturam Das and Jajneswari Das memorial Dihanam competition of women will be inaugurated by Bashoshtha Dev Sarma. Prize distribution cum felicitation meeting is scheduled at 7 pm which will be presided over by Satish Das president of the celebration committee. Ranjit Kumar Das, MLA Sarbhog and Rabindra Bhattacharya retired professor of BH College will attend the meet as guests. The programme will come to an end with a grand cultural night to be inaugurated by Gunindra Nath Das, ex-MLA Barpeta.
