3-day I-Day celebration in Kamrup district

JALUKBARI, July 24 - The ensuing Independence Day will be celebrated in Kamrup district with a three-day programme. The Kamrup district administration has chalked out a detailed programme to make the celebration coulourful with the active support and participation of general people.

The district-level programme will be held at Numalijalah Parade Ground near Kamrup DC Office, Amingaon. In the meantime, Kamrup DC Vinod Seshan has appealed to all sections of the society to participate in the Independence Day celebration at Amingaon and to express gratitude to the thousands of freedom fighters who sacrificed their lives for the cause of the country.

In this connection, a review meeting was held in the conference hall of the Kamrup DC�s office on July 22 DC Seshan in the chair. Heads of various departments including the police administration attended the meeting.

Reviewing the preparedness, Seshan urged all the departmental heads to take innovative schemes to benefit the general people during the period and make the Independence Day celebration a grand success. He asked all the departments to submit an action plan in this regard.

The district-level programme includes organising various competitions like essays, debates, drawing and patriotic songs among students, which will be held on August 13 and 14 in all schools of the district, cleanliness drive in all government offices and institutions on August 13 and 14, plantation on the national highway divider from Amingaon to Rangiya, beautification of the lake in front of DC�s office, distribution of saplings, a friendly football match, launch of leave application software, patriotic street play, playing of patriotic songs through FLS system, exhibition on development activities from August 13 to 15, prabhat ferry on the morning of August 15, march past, distribution of Kishan Credit Card, awards to best farmers, distribution of prizes of various competitions and to contingents, felicitation to freedom fighters, publication of health newsletter, illumination of government buildings, and a colourful cultural programme showing the unity in diversity, a press release stated.
