AGARTALA, Feb 27 - In a sensational development, three policemen, including the personal security guard of State Social Welfare Minister Santana Chakma, were arrested today for possessing a huge quantity of heroin, from the central nursery of the Forest Department of Kanchanpur in North Tripura district.
The officer-in-charge of the Kanchanpur PS, Paritosh Das, said that he, along with Kanchanpur SDPO Bikramjit Shukladas, had launched an operation to nab the drug peddlers.
They saw the three cops in plainclothes carrying plastic containers and a packet and caught them red-handed. The seized consignment comprised heroin and other addictive drugs. The three arrested have been identified as police constables Dilip Chakma and Narottam Chakma and TSR jawan Sanjib Chakma. They are currently being interrogated. SDPO Shukladas said that criminal cases under the NDPS would be slapped against them.
