3 book fairs to be held as per original schedule

GUWAHATI, Sept 6 - The Guwahati Book Fair, the Children�s Book Festival and the North East Book Fair would be held as per their original schedule, the Publication Board Assam (PBA) said in a statement here today. The PBA said the decision was arrived at during a meeting held by PBA chairman and Education Minister Siddhartha Bhattacharyya at his Dispur office today. The Minister suggested that from next year onwards, the All Assam Publishers and Booksellers� Association should hold the book fairs jointly with the PBA.

Chief Minister�s Press Advisor Hrishikesh Goswami made an appeal to all concerned to work jointly burying all the differences. PBA vice chairman Sumanta Chaliha also appealed to all to work with a positive attitude.

On behalf of the All Assam Publishers� and Booksellers� Association, Nabin Barua assured all help to the PBA book fairs.

The Education Minister suggested that the North East Book Fair and the Children�s Book Festival should be held at the Assam Engineering Institute (AEI) ground as per their scheduled dates, the PBA said in its press release.
