GUWAHATI, July 16 - Talented mime artiste Kuldeep Patgiri, Sattriya dancer Anjali Borbora Borthakur and khol exponent Manoj Kumar Das have brought laurels to the State by bagging the prestigious Ustad Bismillah Khan�Yuva Puraskar�for the year 2018 given by the Sangeet Natak Akademi.
The Akademi on Tuesday announced the names of 32 young artistes of the country chosen for the award.
The Ustad Bismillah Khan�Yuva Puraskar�is conferred on�artistes below the age of 40 years for their outstanding work in the field of performing arts, including music, dance and drama.
Anjali Borbora Borthakur, who is one among the eight recipients of�Yuva Puraskar in the category of dance, has been chosen for her exceptional contribution in the field of Sattriya dance.
Kuldeep Patgiri, a research scholar at Gauhati University, has got the award for his outstanding contribution in the field of mime. Patgiri, a student of renowned mime artiste Moinul Haque, has successfully led the mime team of Gauhati University in several cultural expeditions across the country.
On the other hand, in the field of traditional/folk dance and music, Manoj Kumar Das, a khol player of international repute, has bagged the award.
The recipients were selected during the general council meeting of the Sangeet Natak Akademi � the apex body of performing arts in the country on June 26 in Guwahati.
Manju Elangbam has been selected for the award for Manipuri dance and A Aneshori Devi would be given the award for traditional and folk music of Manipur.
The award named after the Shehnai maestro carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000 and is a national-level recognition for the budding talents. The Yuva Puraskar will be presented at a special ceremony by the chairman of Sangeet Natak Akademi.
