IMPHAL, Jan 31: Altogether 3,986 health workers received COVID-19 vaccine shots in Manipur so far, including 587 today.

The healthcare workers were administered Covishield vaccine in four districts of the State, officials said.

Against the day’s target for 716, 587 were vaccinated today.

Meanwhile, Manipur has reported 16 new cases of COVID-19, a press release said.

A total of 1,310 persons were tested for COVID-19 at six testing facilities in the past 24 hours, it added.

Dr Kh Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson of the Health Department said the new cases were reported from Imphal West (4), Thoubal (1), Bishnupur (2), Kakching (1), Churachandpur (6) and Senapati (2).

In the last 24 hours, there was no report of any COVID-related death in the State, the release said. The death toll in the State remained at 371.

Eight persons were discharged from three COVID care facilities in the past 24 hours, it said.

The cumulative number of positive cases was 29,068 while the numbers of active and recovered cases were 142 and 28,553 respectively, it added.

The recovery rate in the State is 98.22 per cent.
