GUWAHATI, Dec 18 - The Srimanta Sankaradeva Kalakshetra Society is organising the Second Srimanta Sankaradeva International Festival 2017 with the objective of highlighting and promoting the contributions and achievements of the great saint in the national and international spheres.
A group of around 11 Danish and French artistes from Europe will take part in the festival, which is going to be held on January 5-10 next, said an official statement.
Last year, in the same series of festival, Srimanta Sankaradeva�s Parijat Haran Naat was enacted in French language by artistes from Central Europe and was a grand success.
�Continuing the same trend, the main attraction of this year�s event would be the performance of Ram Bijoy, another play composed by the saint, in Danish language by the artistes from Europe. This effort has been made to extend the limits of the creation of the saint as well as the cultural heritage of the State to other parts of the globe. Apart from the play, there would be other programmes and activities like fair, exhibition and performances of music and dances related to the saint,� said the statement.
An international seminar on the subject �Srimanta Sankaradeva: Synthesizer of spirituality, economics and culture� is also being organised on the occasion from January 5 to 7.
Scholars from the University of Guanajuato, Mexico, would take part in the seminar.
The sub-themes of the seminar are � �Sankaradeva: A spiritual revolutionary�, �Sankaradeva: Emancipator of the common masses�, �Sankaradeva: A cultural protagonist�, �Sankaradeva: His economic sense for social uplift�, and �Sankaradeva: His multidimensionality�.
