28 MACs take oath at Haflong

HAFLONG, June 3 � Dima Hasao deputy commissioner Barun Bhuyan administered the oath of office ceremonially to the newly elected members of the 11th autonomous council in presence of MP Biren Sing Engti, Power Minister Pradyut Bordoloi, HAD Minister Khorsing Engti, MLAs GC Langthasa and K Engti in the District Library auditorium on Monday.

Altogether 28 members elected from 28 constituencies in the recently held elections to the autonomous council took the oath of office in English except Debolal Gorlosa, who read out a few lines in Dimasa. Former chief executive member Debojeet Thaosen while expressing confidence to form the council said, �a good opposition means a good administration.�

Talking to media later, Power Minister Pradyut Bordoloi said the Congress was having the required number of MACs to form the government but support from others also required to run the government as well as for the development. He said the districts of Dima Hasao and Karbi Anglong were suffering a lot due to some unwanted happenings but now all have reposed their faith in democracy. He hoped that this time people of Dima Hasao would be able to see the light of development.
