275 fresh cases in Tripura

AGARTALA, Aug 1 - Tripura registered 275 positive cases of COVID-19 and 365 recoveries during the past 24 hours, official sources said. No death due to the infection has been reported in the past 72 hours.

The State�s COVID-19 tally now stands at 5,012, out of which 3,327 patients have already recovered. Currently, Tripura has 1,356 active cases.

�We are mainly focusing on conducting house-to-house surveys to trace cases. Altogether 1,22,255 households have been surveyed by medical teams. In the course of the surveys, 4,031 people were tested, out of whom 182 tested positive,� a senior official said here today.

So far, 1,65,597 swabs have been collected and 1,64,416 have been tested. �If you look at the graph, there has been an upward trend as far as new COVID-19 positive cases are concerned. The steep increase of positive cases in the State is due to the increase in the number of tests. Tripura is one of the leading States in terms of per million tests � 41,129 tests per million,� the official pointed out.

He added that the recovery rate has increased from 64 per cent on Thursday to 70.70 per cent on Friday. Meanwhile, 52 more people who had got stuck in Bangladesh due to the lockdown, have returned home through the Akhaura ICP yesterday. With Friday�s count, altogether 401 individuals have returned to the State from Bangladesh since May 28.

�The persons, who returned home from Bangladesh yesterday, carried negative reports. The certificates were issued by the Bangladesh authority,� Amdul Hamid, an immigration officer at the Akhaura ICP, told media persons here today.
