GUWAHATI, Nov 21 � The Kamrup Metro district administration and the District Social Welfare Department on Thursday shifted 26 homeless persons from streets around the Sukleswar temple and provided them accommodation at shelter homes.
Among them were 23 men, two women and one child, said an official statement.
Staffs of various NGOs were present during the transfer of the 26 homeless people, who were engaged in begging activities.
This was the second such drive around the Sukleswar temple. In an earlier drive, 63 such persons had been shifted to shelter homes.
