AIZAWL, July 2 � A function to mark the 25th anniversary of theMizoram Peace Accord signed on June 30, 1986, was held at Vanapa Hall here on Thursday. The function was organised jointly by the Mizoram Kohhran Hruaitute Committee (MKHC) or the Mizoram Church Leaders Committee and the Government of Mizoram.
It was due to the efforts, the united stand and the dedication of the Church leaders towards the goal of peace that helped convince the Government of India and the MNF to come to the negotiating table so that a settlement could be arrived at. In a way they were the harbingers of peace and prosperity and ushered in a new era in the history of Mizoram.
Mizoram Governor MM Lakhera said that the day is indeed a historic day for the people.
