253 new COVID-19 cases take Arunachal tally to 8,669

ITANAGAR, Sept 26 - The spike in COVID-19 cases in Arunachal Pradesh is on with 253 new positive cases reported in the State on Friday. The COVID-19 tally has now surged to 8,669.

Meanwhile, 159 patients were discharged following their recovery from the disease. So far, 6,230 people have recuperated from the virus.

There are 2,425 active cases undergoing treatment at various COVID care facilities with some of them recuperating under home isolation. The State has already registered 14 casualties, according to a bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services here.

Of the fresh cases, the Itanagar Capital Complex reported 116 infections. West Kameng reported 37 cases, including 28 military personnel from the Military Hospital, Dahung, five from the Bhalukpong check gate and four from the General Hospital, Bomdila. Changlang reported 22 cases with five of them being Assam Rifles personnel, four IR Bn personnel and two healthcare workers.

Papum Pare detected 13 cases and Lower Subansiri 11, as six cases each came from East Siang, Upper Subansiri, Namsai and Kurung Kumey. Upper Siang and Lohit recorded five cases each, while West Siang and Leparada got four each. Three cases each were reported from Tirap and Tawang, while Lower Siang and Lower Dibang Valley found two each and one each came from Pakke Kessang and East Kameng.
