23 Bangladeshis nabbed in Tripura

AGARTALA, May 10 � Twenty-three Bangladeshis were arrested from Melaghar in Sipahijala district for entering India allegedly without valid documents, police said today.

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the house of one Kurban Ali at Melaghar and arrested 23 Bangladeshis for entering India without passport yesterday, a police official said.

On interrogation, it was learnt that they had entered Melaghar from neighbouring Comilla district of Bangladesh in search of jobs and they were likely to go to Kashmir to work as domestic helps.

Two Indians, including one from Jammu and Kashmir, were also arrested for helping them in their illegal entry, he said. A local court remanded them to three days jail custody. � PTI
