22nd death anniversary of Jwhwlao Bali Ram Boro observed

KALAIGAON, March 31 - The 22nd death anniversary of Jwhwlao Bali Ram Boro was observed at Harisinga on March 30 with a day-long programme. It was organized centrally by Udalguri District Committee of ABSU at Memberbasti village near Harisinga. The hoisting of the ABSU flag by Rotendra Daimary, president, ABSU, Udalguri district committee at 8 am marked the beginning of the day�s events followed by floral tribute paid to the image of Jwhwlal Bali Ram Boro at 8:30 am, which was conducted by Monomati Boro, sister of late Bali Ram Boro. It was followed by an open discussion on the theme, �Life and Philosophy of Jwhwlal Bali Ram Boro and his role during the Bodoland Movement�, which was held at 10 am. Dipen Boro, vice president of ABSU central committee presided over the open discussion.

Rotendra Daimary, secretary ABSU, Udalguri district committee welcomed all the guests and people at the beginning of the open session which was inaugurated by Rabindra Mochahary, former advisor of ABSU State committee. Pramod Boro, president, ABSU who attending the session as the chief guest, remarked that heroic deeds of Bali Ram Boro would remain among Bodos for ever. He also spoke on the role of late Jwhwlal Bali Ram Boro during the Bodoland movement.

On the occasion, ABSU supremo declared that the day would be celebrated every year by ABSU as a central ceremony in the future. The session was also addressed by former president of ABSU and ex-Rajya Sabha MP from Assam UG Brahma and Arati Daimari, former president ABWWF Udalguri district committee.

Children Park, school building inaugurated: A new park for children was inaugurated recently at Bamunjhar High School in Udalguri district on March 29. A new school building with two classrooms was also inaugurated at Biaspara Madhyamik Vidyalaya in Darrang district on the same day. The children park and school building were constructed by troops of the Red Horns Division under �Operation Sadvabna�. Commanding Officer of 108 Regiment inaugurated both the children park and the school building. On both the occasions, the Army Commanding Officer spoke about the role of Indian Army in protecting the geographical boundary of the country and welfare of the people as well. In another occasion, two toilets with septic tanks and overhead water tanks were also opened for students at Padmakuri LP School at Baligaon near Bechimari in Darrang district on March 30.
