DERGAON, Sept 5 - �Teachers play a pivotal role in building a healthy society,� said State Agriculture Minister Atul Bora while attending a Teachers� Day function at the district library today.
Addressing a gathering, the minister said that the State Government is keen to solve the problems of the teachers. �In fact, the present government has taken a slew of initiatives for the development of education sector,� he said.
Participating in the function, noted educationist Dinesh Gogoi highlighted different aspects of Teachers� Day and the present education system. Golaghat DC Dhiren Hazarika also spoke on the occasion.
The meeting, which was chaired by the District Development Commissioner Farid Ahmed, felicitated 22 teachers for their outstanding contributions in the field of education. Earlier, the welcome address was delivered by Inspector of Schools Dr Samiran Bora.
Kalaigaon Correspondent adds: The Teachers� Day was observed in various schools and colleges at Kalaigaon. Students decorated their school campus and classrooms with flowers and colorful balloons. Various cultural events were also arranged by the students .
At Lokapriya Bordoloi Public School,Basanta Kumar Deka,headmaster of the school presided over the ceremony while Jayanta Das, retired headmaster of Kalaigaon Girls High School attended as the chief guest. Teachers� Day was also celebrated at Kalaigaon HS School and Jnandeep Academy etc.
