22 more test positive in Karimganj

SILCHAR, July 15 - In a significant spike, 22 more COVID-19 positive cases were detected in Karimganj district on Wednesday.

Sources at the district health department said that among the total cases for the day, a woman working in a local parlour, a barber and an official from Karimganj police reserve have been infected by the virus. They were detected as a part of the Assam Targeted Surveillance Programme (ATSP), sources said.

Reacting on the developments, Deputy Commissioner Anbamuthan MP, while talking to The Assam Tribune said, �We are starting off with the rapid testing kits from Thursday. First, we will begin the test proceedings at Badarpur Railway Station and then continue the drive in different areas of the district. We are continuously assessing the situation.�

Meanwhile, according to a social media update by Patharkandi MLA Krishnendu Paul on his official page, there are 34 active COVID-19 cases in the district so far.
