By STAFF CORRESPONDENT

SILCHAR, Jan 19 - Following receipt of formal approval from the Union Ministry of Home Affairs, the authorities of Cachar and Karimganj district administration and police are facilitating the move to deport 21 Bangladeshi nationals back to their country on Saturday through the international border in Karimganj.

The Bangladeshi nationals were detained at the detention camp of Silchar Central Jail after they were nabbed on separate occasions while entering India through the two border districts of the valley.

According to Karimganj SP Gaurav Upadhyay, while 15 Bangladeshi nationals were detected in Karimganj, the remaining six were taken into custody from Cachar.

We are monitoring the immigration process of the detained Bangladeshi nationals following which they would be sent across the international border, the SP maintained.

The first major diplomatic move to deport Bangladeshi nationals was initiated back in October 2016 when 10 detainees were sent back.
