20 villages submerged in Nalbari

NALBARI, July 27 - The floodwaters of Pagladia and Mora Pagladia rivers submerged nearly 20 villages under Barbhag and Paschim Nalbari revenue circles affecting large areas of sali crops and seedlings.

In Barbhag revenue circle, the floodwater of the Pagladia river entered through the Satha channel and inundated around 15 villages. The roads and houses in Barbukia, Barsimalia, Nakheti, Arangamou, Dokoha area are still under floodwater.

According to the circle officer of Barbhag, the sali crops were worst affected in the locality. On the other hand, the flood water of Mora Pagladia river also submerged more than five villages under Paschim Nalbari revenue circle. Besides the swollen river Brahmaputra also inundated all the three gaon panchayats of char areas (riverine islands) under Barkshetri revenue circle. The Additional Deputy Commissioner of Nalbari district, Nadira Jasmine, said that the administration is yet to set relief camp in the district.
