20 villages re-submerged by floodwater in Dhemaji

DHEMAJI, Sept 10 � The flood situation in Dhemaji, that had improved over the past few days with the weather clearing, worsened again today due to incessant rain since Tuesday morning.

The floodwater of the Jiadhal re-entered Jiadhal and West Dhemaji areas through the breached portion of the Jiadhal embankment at Bormangaon and re-inundated more than 20 villages in the two areas.

The worst-hit villages include Hechuli, Salmari, Jalbhari, Kekuri, Bhajugaon, Hatipara, Bordalapa, Bordhekera, Sarudhekera, Boruapather, Lowmuri, Ghuguha Chapari, Kalakata, Kechukhana, Chakaladalani Naruathan, Charigharia etc. The water level in the villages was rising till this morning and could further rise in the next 12 hours.
