20 marriage halls to be sealed from August 1

GUWAHATI, July 25 � Taking a tough stand against commercial establishments running their trade without proper permits, the Guwahati Municipal Corporation (GMC) on Thursday issued notices for sealing of 20 marriage halls or bibah bhawans in the city with effect from August 1.

The notice was issued under the Section 337 (A) (I) of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation Act 1971 and the establishments were found to be operating without commercial licences, proper parking places and NOCs from the GMC, the Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) and City Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), said officials.

�The notification was issued by the GMC Commissioner today and the concerned 20 bibah bhawans will be sealed from August 1,� said an official.

The establishments whose names have been mentioned in the notification issued today are Annapurna Bhawan (Beltola Tiniali), Ashirbad Function Hall (Six Mile), Bimala Bibah Bhawan (Jayanagar), Decora Bibah Bhawan (Zoo Tiniali, RG Baruah Road), Gunjan Bibah Bhawan (Udalbakra, Lalganesh), Jonaki Kareng (Narikalbasti, Zoo Narengi Road), Jun Beli Bibah Bhawan (VIP Road, Chachal), Kanika Bibah Bhawan (Barowari, Ujanbazar), Lakhimi Bibah Bhawan (Lakhimi Path, Beltola), Nirala Bibah Bhawan (Beltola Tiniali), Subha Mangalam Bibah Bhawan (Birubari, Gopinath Nagar), Sonam Marriage Hall (Ananda Nagar, Pandu Port Road), Uruli Bibah Bhawan (Shankardev Nagar, Kalapahar), Uttam Bibah Bhawan (Hatigaon), Vandana Bibah Bhawan (Udalbakra Main Road, Lalganesh), Royal Palace (VIP Road, Pathar Quary), Ashirbad (Udalbakra, Lokhra Road), Asian Palace (near Bora Service, GS Road), Raj Lakhi Bhawan (Adagudam, Lokhra Road) and Surya Subham Bibah Bhawan (Kalapahar, near Soni Mandir).
