Guwahati, Aug 25 - Two more legislators in the State today tested positive for COVID-19. Former minister and Congress MLA Ajanta Neog and AGP MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita were admitted at the GMCH here after tests confirmed that they were infected.
Both are, however, stable. Kalita is also a diabetic.
Meanwhile, Assam today reached the milestone of conducting 20 lakh tests. The first ten lakh tests in the State were completed on August 3, and the next ten lakh were completed within a short time of 22 days.
Tests conducted per million population in the State now stands at 58,356.
At a positivity rate of 5.75 per cent, altogether 1,973 new coronavirus cases were detected on Tuesday, taking the State�s tally to 94,592. The number of discharged patients stands at 74,184. The positivity rate in the State continued to be high during the last three days. On Monday, it was 6.55 per cent and on Sunday, it was 6.89 per cent.
However, eight more persons succumbed to the COVID-19 today, taking the death toll to 260.
