GUWAHATI, June 2 � Two thieves were apprehended by Nijarapur residents while trying to steal in the residence of Dr Girish Sarma, a former teacher of Gauhati University.
Police said the thieves took advantage of the lonely house as Sarmas went to their daughter�s residence. After returning he found the locks of the grill broken and immediately started a hue and cry.
Having heard Dr Sarma�s scream, the local residents caught hold of two of the three thieves. While Mirajul Haque and Bikash Chetri were apprehended, their third accomplice managed to escape with some cash and jewellery.
