2 suspected NLFT cadres arrested

By Correspondent

AGARTALA, Oct 27 - Two suspected NLFT cadres were arrested along with a leader of a Meghalaya-based outlawed group, U Achai Liberation Army, at Balukdupi under Assams Basistha Police Station, highly places sources confirmed here today.

The two suspected NLFT cadres include Kamalesh Jamatia of Jampuijala under West Tripura district and Manoj Koloy of Kolaigantacherra in Dhalai district.

Although Kamalesh, a dread NLFT cadre, surrendered before police way back in 2011, he went to jungle once again. Kamaleshs arrest by Assam Police has virtually confirmed his close association with the outlawed NLFT and the Meghalaya-based outfit.

Manoj, who used to stay in Goalpara in Assam and Meghalaya, is a well known arms dealer.

Sources said, Assam Police have detained the duo at Balukdupi with ammunitions on October 16. All the arrested persons are now in police custody.

Following inputs from Assam Police, a Tripura Police team has already rushed to Basistha in order to interrogate them. If situation requires, the Tripura Police may seek transit remand of the two for a thorough interrogation, according to sources.

According to sources Kamaleshs statement may appear as beneficial to know the latest strategy of the NLFT, which is in peace talks with the Centre. The peace dialogue between the NLFT and the Centre is currently passing through rough weather due to some unrealistic demands put forward by the outfit.

Although two rounds of talks have already been held, but no major headway was made.

Tribal Welfare Minister Aghore Debbarma had recently said that the Tripura Government is not a party in the ongoing peace talks with the NLFT. The Centre has, however, involved the Tripura Government since the outfit is active in State.
