IMPHAL, Sept 3 - Two senior Manipur police officers have been placed under suspension while retirement benefit of a retired Inspector General of Police (IGP) has been withheld as disciplinary action.

The two police officers who have been placed under suspension are SP Senapati district F Gonglin and Imphal East Additional SP (Ops) M Kumarjit while the retired IGP was S Manglemjao, according to orders issued by the Department of Personnel and Administrative Reforms.

Although the orders did not mention details, it is believed that the suspension could relate to the case of supply of sub-standard quality belt for State police department.

The order said the police officers were not to leave their stations or headquarter without obtaining permission of the competent authority during the period of suspension.

MLAs pledge eyes: Three Manipur MLAs have pledged to donate their eyes during an Eye Donation Campaign Fortnight at Moirang Khunou locality in Bishnupur district on Sunday.

The three MLAs are Pukhrem Sarat Singh (Moirang), Tongbram Robindro (Thanga) and Sanasam Bira Singh (Kumbi). In his speech during the gathering, Sarat Singh, a former bureaucrat, stressed on the philosophical concept about attaining happiness and contentment when one helps and gives for the welfare of mankind.

Robindro and Bira Singh appealed to the public to know the importance and the need of gifting vision to the visually-impaired ones, and to pledge their eyes.
