MANGALDOI, July 30 � In a significant development, Forest Protection Force personnel gunned down two poachers in Orang National Park on Wednesday night and recovered two firearms from the slain poachers.
According to Selim Ahmed, Range Officer of the Park, the unidentified poachers were killed in a fierce encounter with the forest guards near Rowmari forest camp at around 12 midnight.
An automatic 7.65 mm pistol, one 303 rifle and 10 rounds of live bullets were recovered from the encounter site. The two bodies were subsequently sent to Mangaldoi Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
