GANGTOK, Sept 11 - A 68-year-old woman passed away at the STNM Hospital early this morning due to COVID-19. She was a resident of Lal Bazaar here.
Health Department DG-cum-Secretary Dr Pemba T Bhutia said that the patient was brought to the hospital on September 1.
Another resident of Lal Bazaar, who was taken to the CRH, also died this morning. A subsequent test confirmed that he was COVID-19 positive. This takes the total number of COVID-19 deaths to 10 in Sikkim.
Meanwhile, 20 new positive cases were detected in the State, including 15 in East Sikkim and five in South Sikkim. The total active cases stand at 552.
