2 more virus deaths in Manipur

IMPHAL, Dec 11 - Manipur has reported two more COVID-19 deaths during the last 24 hours, official sources said here today. The cumulative number of virus deaths in the State has now reached 320.

In the last 24 hours, two male persons aged 36 and 41 from Imphal East district expired at the RIMS and the JNIMS Hospital, stated Dr Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang, Additional Director and spokesperson of the Manipur Health Department, in a press release.

Meanwhile, in the last 24 hours, 136 persons, including 38 females from the general population and six personnel from the Central Armed Police Forces, tested positive for COVID-19. The new cases were detected at 16 testing facilities in the State.

The new cases among the civilians have been reported from Imphal West, Imphal East, Thoubal, Kakching, Bishnupur, Churachandpur, Kangpokpi, Tamenglong, Tengnoupal, Chandel, Noney and Senapati districts, the release added.

On the other hand, 144 persons, including 74 under home isolation, were discharged from 11 COVID care facilities in the past 24 hours.

The COVID-19 tally of Manipur is currently 26,859, while the numbers of active and recovered cases are 2,998 and 23,541 respectively. The recovery rate of the State stands at 87.64 per cent.

As of Friday, 4,98,273 people have been screened at various entry points into the State, while 4,47,694 individuals have been tested for COVID-19, added the officials.
