2 more die of COVID in Arunachal Pradesh

ITANAGAR, Oct 3 - Arunachal Pradesh on Friday registered two more COVID-19 fatalities, taking the death toll to 18, State Surveillance Officer (IDSP) Dr Lobsang Jampa said.

One of the deceased is a 54-year-old sub-inspector of SSB who was posted at Bomdila in West Kameng district. A resident of Erakloni village at Mahadevpur in Namsai district, he died of COVID-19 related complications at the Namsai Covid Care Center (CCC).

The other one is a 51-year-old Border Roads Task Force (BRTF) staffer from Upper Siang, who passed away at the Assam Medical College and Hospital in Dibrugarh.

Dr Jampa informed that the 54-year-old patient had complained of difficulty in breathing when he was admitted to the General Hospital, Bomdila on September 30. He was then referred to the Baptist Christian Hospital at Tezpur for better treatment.

On the same day, he was tested positive for COVID-19 at the Tezpur Medical College, and when the doctor advised admission, the patient refused to get admitted despite his critical condition and hired a private ambulance and travelled to his hometown for home isolation.

The patient reached Dirak check gate on October 1. Later, his relative brought him to CCC, Namsai in a critical condition where he passed away.

Dr Jampa said that the second patient was from Upper Siang and was admitted to the Dedicated COVID Hospital, Pasighat on September 13. He was referred to AMCH, Dibrugarh on September 16 after his condition deteriorated.

The State on Friday recorded 200 new COVID-19 cases, taking the tally of confirmed cases to 10,220, while 134 patients recuperated from the disease, raising the number of recovered cases to 7,183, according to a bulletin issued by the Directorate of Health Services here.

Of the fresh cases, Itanagar Capital Complex reported 87, Anjaw 37 and West Siang 18. Lower Dibang Valley and West Kameng reported seven cases each, while Papum Pare and Tawang reported six cases each, and East Siang, Kurung Kumey and Upper Siang five cases each.

Tirap registered four cases and Lower Subansiri three, while two cases each were detected in Changlang, East Kameng and Leparada, and one each in Upper Subansiri, Lower Siang, Longding and Lohit.

Among the new cases, 16 are symptomatic and the rest 184 are asymptomatic. The State currently has 3,019 active cases, the bulletin said.
