2 more die of COVID-19 in Meghalaya

SHILLONG, Nov 20 - Two more persons succumbed to COVID-19 in Meghalaya, taking the death toll to 106. Meanwhile, 173 new cases were detected in the State in the past 24 hours.

According to health officials, both the deceased were from East Khasi Hills district, which has reported most of the virus deaths in the State.

With the detection of the new cases, the number of active cases in the State has touched 888.

Of the fresh cases, East Khasi Hills reported 97, West Garo Hills 60, South Garo Hills eight, East Jaintia Hills four, East Garo Hills two, and Ri-Bhoi and South West Garo Hills one each.

During the same period, the State also recorded 84 recoveries, taking the total number of recoveries to 10,158.

As of today, 2,27,199 persons have been tested for COVID-19 out of whom 11,152 tested positive, health officials said. So far, East Khasi Hills district reported 6,692 positive cases, followed by West Garo Hills district with 1,471. South West Khasi Hills reported the least number of positive cases at 51.

East Khasi Hills district reported the highest number of COVID-19 deaths with 87 persons succumbing to the infection, followed by West Garo Hills district reporting 11 deaths so far.
