Another secondary contact of the Nizamuddin Jamaat attendee tested positive during the day. The 16-year-old girl is from Bongaigaon.

The total number of COVID-19 patients in Assam now stands at 37. However, the number of active hospital cases is 9 after the discharge of 27 cured patients and the death of one.

Bongaigaon Correspondent adds: The 16-year-old girl, who tested positive, is a member of a family of six.

The family had passive contact with a COVID-19 patient of Chapar in Dhubri district. They had completed home quarantine period on April 23.

The Health department had sent their third swab samples on April 24 and the test report released today confirmed the infection only in the body of the 16-year old girl of the family and not the others, a source in the health department said.
