2 minors drown in Simsang river near Williamnagar

TURA, Aug 3 - In yet another tragedy in Garo Hills, two children were suspected to have drowned while taking an unsupervised swim in the Simsang river near Williamnagar.

The two children, one aged 4.5 years and the other 10 were cousins and had gone to the river all alone this morning after which they were feared drowned. Both the children are residents of Kusimkolgre locality in the town in East Garo Hills.

Many parts of the state are currently in the grip of a heat wave with temperatures soaring since the past two days.

Immediately after information about the two children going missing was received, locals along with policemen and the F and ES team launched a search and rescue operation, though till the time of writing this report, the two children were yet to be traced.

Search operations, assisted by a team from West Garo Hills, continued through the day, though despite the efforts, the children were not found.

Another search operation is expected to begin early morning tomorrow.
