AGARTALA, Aug 8 � Two hardcore insurgents of Manipur based outfit � KCP (MC) have been arrested from Vidhyasagar area, on the outskirts of the State capital here on Monday.
Based on a tip-off, troops of Assam Rifles and police carried out a special operation in a house at Vidhyasagar Chowmuhani under East Agartala police station and picked up two suspected KCP (MC) cadres � Herojit Singh (26) of Hariram under Thoubal police station and Ngyangon Meiti (26) of Khorai under Porungpet police station.
During search, two laptops, 13 mobile sets, a digital camera and some incriminating documents were recovered from their possession, said DIG (Control) Nepal Chandra Das.
Herojit and Ngyangon were arrested and produced before the court seeking police remand for interrogation.
�They have been staying with their family members there for the past seven months to skip security forces of Manipur�, he said. However, security forces did not apprehend their family members.
According to preliminary investigation, they have taken shelter nearby the State capital to maintain close relation with other outlawed groups active in Tripura.
�Their crime could be ascertained only after grilling them intensively�, he said. The detention of two militants was communicated to Manipur police authority for taking necessary steps, he added.
The arrest of two Manipur based militants has caused alarm bells among the law enforcement agencies keeping in mind of the Independence Day celebrations.
Earlier, Utpal Debbarma, self- styled Foreign Secretary of National Liberation Front of Tripura was arrested from Kanchanpur area, close to Mizoram border. Utpal is now in judicial custody for two weeks.
