TURA, June 24 - In a tragic incident, two bikers lost their lives when the motorcycle they were travelling in hit the side of an oil tanker near Dollongre village in West Garo Hills district around 6 pm yesterday.
According to police, the motorcycle was coming to Tura while the tanker was on its way to Assam when the accident took place. The motorcycle was thrown on to the nearby hill and both the driver of the motorcycle and the pillion rider were killed on the spot. Immediately after the accident the driver and his assistant fled the spot.
They were caught at Bajengdoba in North Garo Hills after information was relayed on the accident. Both have been arrested and forwarded to court,� police said.
