JORHAT, Feb 25 - Two persons were arrested from Bonai Robigaon under Teok Police Station in the district on Monday and a 7.65 mm pistol recovered from their possession.
A police source stated that acting on specific information, the duo - Biswajit Neog (27) and Tapan Saikia (38) - were arrested from their respective houses by the police.
The two have been booked under Sections 25(1) A and 35 of the Arms Act for illegal possession of arms and Case No. 127/20 registered in Teok Police Station in this connection, the source said.
Police are investigating whether the duo had links with any extremist outfit or were part of a gang involved in illegal arms trade.
