GUWAHATI, June 16 - Police have arrested two persons in connection with the recent murder of Kanak Choudhury (Simon House fire case).
During questioning the arrested persons � Amrit Kakoty and Sunit Kashyap � confessed to the crime. Cash amounting to Rs 1, 44,960 was recovered from their possession.
Police said Kashyap was the one who bought petrol at a depot and set Kanak Choudhury on fire with the help of Kakoty.
The murderers tried to project the incident as a case of accidental fire leading to the death of Choudhury, a prominent personality of Guwahati.
�Although the motive is quite clear, we are looking for another accused Biswajit Ray who is on the run,� police said.
Jeweller shooting case: Police have arrested five persons in connection with the June 13 jeweller shooting case of Fatasil Ambari area.
The arrested persons were Sudip Biswash (32), Kashe Ali (23), Amir Ali (35), Dipankar Deka (28) and Jaded Khan.
