RANGIYA, May 8 � Sensation prevails here following recovery of the body of a 12-year-old boy Mustaq Ahmed from the backyard of his house at Gosain Solmari this evening. Two persons have been arrested in this connection.
Mustaq, son of Mainul Ali, a PHE department employee, was reportedly abducted by Rubul Ali, son of village headman Hamid Ali of the same village, with the help of one Bubul Ali this morning.
Police later arrested Rubul Ali from a village in Nalbari district. His arrest subsequently led to the arrest of his accomplice in the crime Bubul Ali.
According to Mainul Ali, he had received an extortion notice for Rs 5 lakh on an ULFA letterhead on May 2 last, and informed the police about it. After receiving the extortion notice he had also received a call from mobile number 98695-31094, directing him to comply with the extortion demand.
Police and para-military forces were deployed to control the irate local public.
