2 held for kidnapping

ITANAGAR, May 12 - Security forces in Changlang district of Arunachal Pradesh have arrested two persons in connection with a sensational case of kidnapping of an oil company employee for ransom.

Kashyap Boruah, an employee of Udipta Energy Oil Company, was kidnapped by unknown miscreants on April 1 last while he was travelling.

They were stopped by two persons in army uniform, who directed them to leave the vehicle on the road and forced them to walk with them (abductors) towards the forest area. Later, a little deep inside the forest, the driver was released after snatching his mobile.

Accordingly, on receipt of the complaint, a case was registered at Diyun police station .

It is learnt that the kidnappers demanded a ransom of Rs 3 crore for his release. After negotiation, the ransom amount was reduced to Rs 40 lakh which was delivered to the kidnappers on April 29 in Sukha Nallah area by the company and Boruah was released on the same day.

After the safe release of the abducted person, the Changlang District Police headed by SP Romil Baaniya along with Army officers launched an operation and nabbed Boksu Chakma, 27, and Sikko Chakma alias Garbhanga . A total amount of Rs 28.19 lakh was recovered.
