2 ex-armymen, panchayat member left out of NRC

By Correspondent

JORABAT, Sept 5 - Soon after the publication of the final list of the National Register of Citizens (NRC) on August 31, reports had poured in of names of government officials, ex-servicemen and other genuine Indian citizens having been left out.

Similar is the case with two retired Army personnel residing in Hathkhula village on the city outskirts, under the Sonapur revenue circle.

The two aggrieved retired Army personnel are Nandi Ram Das and Nokul Ram Das, who have now expressed concern that the mammoth exercise of updating the NRC, was full of discrepancies.

Even after serving the Indian Army for 17 years from 1963 to 1979, the members of my family and I have failed to find our names in the list. I am not sure as to what fate awaits us, Nandi Ram Das said.

Interestingly, Nandi Rams daughter Namita Das whose name is also missing from the final list, is a member of No.55 Kamarkuchi Anchalik Panchayat.
