2 Dhemaji youths drown in Jiadhal, 1 body found

DHEMAJI, Aug 23 - Two educated youths of Dhemaji town named Arindam Boruah (25) and Bhupendra Narah (24) drowned yesterday in the Jiadhal river.

As reported, five youths of Dhemaji town went to Jiadhalmukh at Arunachal Pradesh yesterday, from where the river gains momentum and flows towards the plain.

As Arindam and Bhupendra swam in the upper portion of the Jiadhal river, they were gradually swept away into the deeper portion of the river as strong currents immediately washed away both of them.

Meanwhile, a team of NDRF arrived at the spot and conducted a rapid search in the river. But their attempts were in vain.

The body of Arindam Boruah was found floating in the river near Barmangaon today.

According to sources, Arindam Boruah is a permanent resident of Dhemaji Ratanpur and did his B Tech and was serving in Delhi.

On the other hand, Bhupendra Narah was studying in the final semester of Jawaharlal Nehru University in Shillong. Their tragic deaths were deeply mourned in Dhemaji.
