DIMAPUR, April 24 - The Nagaland Police today detained two persons for alleged fraudulent registration to avail of financial aid extended to citizens of Nagaland stranded outside the State. This followed a complaint from the Principal Director of the School Education Department, Shanavas C, a Nagaland Police release said.

It said Veduzo Rokha of Thinyizu village in Phek district and currently a resident of Kenuozou Colony, Kohima, and Pozu Daile of Phuba village in Senapati district of Manipur and currently residing at Themezie Colony, Kohima, had fraudulently registered on the Nagaland Government web portal to avail of financial aid meant only for Naga citizens stranded outside the State. The duo were summoned to the cyber crime police station in Kohima and later released on personal bond.

The Nagaland Government had earlier announced a special package under which citizens of the State stranded outside can avail of financial assistance by registering on the iamstranded. nagaland.gov.in web portal.

The police cautioned the public not to use fraudulent means to avail of any packages offered by the Government during the COVID-19 crisis and said such acts would be liable for penal actions as per the provisions of law.
