2-day Dhulia Samaroh from tomorrow

NALBARI, Oct 13 � The Asam Sahitya Sabha is all set to organise a central �Dhulia Samaroh� at Mohan Bhaira Kshetra near Nalbari Natya Mandir on October 15 and 16 under the aeiges of Nalbari Zilla Sahitya Sabha.

The dhulia samaroh is organises in order to give exposure to the ancient folk art form which is on the verge of its extintion.

The two-day dhulia samaroh will begin with the Sahitya Sabha flag hoisting by Rang Bang Terang, president, Asam Sahitya Sabha. The flag of �dhulia samaroh� will be hoisted by Ramani Barman, president of reception committee.

The Sahitya Sabha sponsored dhulia samaroh will be inaugurated by Nilamani Sen Deka, Minister of Agriculture and Parliamentary Affairs in a function to be held at 10 am. The inaugural function will be presided over by Rang Bang Terang and will be attended by Dr Om Prakash Bharati, deputy director Sangeet Natak Akademi, Dr Nabin Ch Sarma, renowned scholar on folk culture. In the same function Dr Krishna Barman, researcher of dhulia culture will be felicitated.

The cultural procession to be taken out on the occasion will be flagged off by Dr Samaujjal Kumar Bhattacharya, adviser of AASU. The first seminar on Kamrupia dhulia and its preservation will be held at 2 pm. A poets meet will also be held.

On the second day, the programme will be started with the felicitation of dhulia artistes at 9 am. The felicitation programme will be inaugurated by Abu Sufian, SP, Nalbari.

The closing ceremony of the dhulia samaroh will be held at 3 pm with Padmashree awardee Rang Bang Terang, president of Asom Sahitya Sabha in the chair. The other guests of the closing ceremony will be Kanak Sen Deka, former president of the Asam Sahitya Sabha, Dr Bhumidhar Barman, adviser to the Chief Minister, Kumar Dipak Das, MP of Rajya Sabha. The book to be published on the ocassion will be released by Rita Chaudhury, Sahitya Akademi awardee.

On both the evening, eight dhulia parties of the district will perform their show.
