2 CRPF men injured in Imphal grenade attack

IMPHAL, Nov 22 - Two CRPF personnel sustained injuries in a grenade attack in the Manipur capital this evening, the police said.

Unidentified militants lobbed a hand grenade at personnel of 87 battalion of the CRPF, who were on routine duty at Lilashing Khongnangkhong under the Imphal Police Station around 5.25pm, police sources said.

The injured CRPF personnel, who have been identified as head constable Jitenchand Rabha (46) and constable Yadav Munna (37), were rushed to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences Hospital for treatment. Rabha received injuries on his left shoulder, while Munna was hit on his left foot, hospital sources said.

Soon after the incident, police swung into action and conducted search and frisking operations at strategic locations here. However, no arrest has been made till the filing of this report.

Six persons, including five policemen and a civilian, were injured when a suspected improvised explosive device went off here on November 5.
