2 BSF personnel donate plasma at GMCH

SHILLONG, Aug 21 - Two BSF personnel from the Meghalaya Frontier have donated their plasma at the Gauhati Medical College Hospital (GMCH) and 200 more are ready to donate their plasma, if needed.

�Two COVID-19 recovered BSF personnel � constable PP Saikia and constable Md Rasidul Karim, 97 Battalion, Frontier Headquarters, BSF, Meghalaya, currently on temporary duty in Assam, donated their convalescent plasma on August 20 at the GMCH, Guwahati,� UK Nayal, Public Relations Officer, BSF, said.

Stating that COVID-19 has not left the BSF untouched, Nayal added that in the �spirit to serve the nation and humanity, the BSF undertook a drive to motivate its personnel who recovered from COVID-19, to donate their plasma.�

Nayal further said that �more than 200 BSF personnel are ready and will donate plasma� as and when any call from the NEIGRIHMS or the State Health Department is received.

The NEIGRIHMS is in the process to install machines that will enable extraction of plasma from recovered COVID patients. Training of staff in this regard is under way.
