2 bike-lifters nabbed

TURA, June 22 - West Garo Hills. Police today arrested two members of a notorious gang of bike-lifters from Damal Asim village in the district.

As per reports available, after receiving a tip-off from vigilant persons from the area, a team led by the CI of Tura Sadar Police Station along with the OC of Tura Police Station, conducted a raid at around 3 am today in the house of one of the suspects in Damal Asim, who was allegedly involved in cases of motorcycle theft.

�The town of Tura had been witness to many cases of bike thefts over the past few weeks. We received information that these suspected bike-lifters could be behind the incidents. On getting a tip-off, we raided the house and were able to recover 2 stolen bikes along with some fake number plates used by the gang,� said district police chief Dr MGR Kumar.

The recovery led to the arrest of two persons from the village, who allegedly are a part of a larger group of criminals. �A case has been registered and is being investigated. We are trying to nab the other members of the same gang,� added Dr Kumar.
