GUWAHATI, Dec 18 � In a quick breakthrough, two persons were arrested by police in connection with the murder of Dr Amir Hussain, whose body was found close to the Deepor Beel on the morning of December 17.
According to the police, the main accused Azizul Islam has already confessed to his crime, which he had committed between 9.30 and 10 pm on December 16. After killing him inside a hired vehicle, he dumped the body near Deepor Beel. He then left for his home in Mankachar, from where he was later arrested.
The police have learnt that the chief accused was inside the car in which Dr Hussain was taken away from the pharmacy at Hatigaon where he was working as a private practitioner that evening. Azizul Islam, according to police, had himself strangled Dr Hussain inside the car.
Guwahati police cooperating with Dhubri police were able to arrest the suspects, which included the driver of the hired car, Rahul Roy, also known as Chutki. Roy hails from Tura and was staying in Azara.
In a press conference, in which city SSP AJ Baruah was present, mediapersons were told that Azizul had planned the murder because he suspected Dr Hussain of having an extra marital affair with his wife Najma Khandakar with whom he was married for around three years.
