DIMAPUR, Aug 17 � The Special Branch of Dimapur Police apprehended two arms smugglers from Purana Bazar here yesterday.
The two apprehended smugglers were identified as Sentitsung Ozukum, 38, from Mopongchuket village under Mokokchung district and Puchong Khiam, 28, of Yakao village under Tuensang district.
Police sources today said on receiving information of regular arms smuggling taking place at Purana Bazar, a Special Branch team immediately swung into action and arrested Ozukum at around 5 pm on August 16 and recovered two country made .22 pistols, two magazines, three .22 live rounds, 840 spasmo proxyvon capsules and 200 tablets of nitrosen from his possession.
During interrogation, he revealed that the arms were handed over to him by one Puchong Khiam. The SB team arrested Puchong later who disclosed that the arms were smuggled from Tuensang district. The arrested duo along with the seized arms and drugs were handed over to East Police station, Dimapur.
