1st death anniversary of Kalam observed

SILCHAR, July 28 - The first death anniversary of former President Dr APJ Abdul Kalam was observed with reverence in various offices and educational institutes in Cachar district.

In a meeting organised by the Cachar district administration at the District Library auditorium, the people paid tributes to the former President. In his speech, Cachar Deputy Commissioner S Vishwanthan said that during his tenure as the Deputy Commissioner in-charge of Guwahati, he had the opportunity to meet Dr Kalam and share his thoughts and ideas.

Further, Additional Deputy Commissioner SK Das and other distinguished personalities, including Taimur Raja Choudhury, Sourindra Bhattacharjee and others, shared their views about the former President. Some school students also spoke about Dr Kalam on the occasion.

Tinsukia: In the first death anniversary of Bharat Ratna, former President of the nation, renowned scientist, Dr APJ Abdul Kalam, Tinsukia district administration organised a commemoration function at the District Library auditorium here on Wednesday.

The function was attended by Tinsukia Deputy Commissioner Puru Gupta and other officials of the district administration, dignitaries, besides students and teachers etc. Rich homage were paid to the great son of the nation by the people from all walks of life. Speeches were delivered about the simplicity of the great man.

All the speakers appealed to the younger generation to follow the path of a great man like Dr Kalam.
